How to Stay Healthy While Touring!

It’s a new year and you want to make the most of it, right? Well you should! But that can be very difficult to stay healthy while touring. But have no fear, Mirella is here with some helpful tips that will keep your body at its best, so that you can perform at your best on, and off, the road.

1.) Water, Drink, Repeat! – Basically, all you need to do is drink water, drink water and drink water. Seriously though, drinking water is one of the most important things you can do to better your overall health. Water not only hydrates your body, it also helps with looking younger (less fine lines and wrinkles), losing weight, flushing your body of toxins and fighting fatigue. Take it from me, an avid water non-enthusiast, I have seen the benefits firsthand of drinking not only more water in a given day, but also drinking water first thing in the morning, before my coffee. So go ahead, set your body up for success. You and your body will thank me later.

2.) Get Your Beauty Rest! – I suffer from insomnia, so I know not only the advantages how much sleep I get, but also the quality of sleep I get. When you are asleep, magic happens! Your body can heal itself while you are sleeping. Sleep helps your skin get the nutrients it needs as well as helps your stomach digest food properly. It energizes your mind and body too, so that you can perform better both, mentally and physically. Sleep allows you to rest and recharge to wake-up to a new and improved you, so make sure you are getting enough quality sleep while on the road.

3.) Stop Eating Garbage! – Or at least reduce how much junk you eat and drink. You don’t have to subscribe to any special diet to improve your health. You just have to be more consciences of what your eating and drinking to make small steps in the right direction. For example, first I cut out soda, juice, iced tea, and lemonade. Then I began only drinking water and one small cup of coffee a day. You can also opt for healthier sides like, fruits and vegetables. You can choose healthier deserts like fruit salads or yogurt. If you like salad, try your favorite without dressing or croutons. Another big help is watching your portion size or helping yourself to one plate and not more. All of these things can help you get on the right track and stay in charge of your health.

4.) Have Some Fun! – Go out and have some fun. It’s not always easy to stay active while traveling, but it can be done. You can go for a walk, run, or bike ride. If you’re on the road and your hotel has a pool or fitness center, utilize them. If you are with a group, play football, basketball, baseball or any sport you can think of to stay active. You can workout almost anywhere with a phone and YouTube fitness videos, there are also apps and websites dedicated to quick yet effective workouts.

In other words, stop making excuses and take charge of your health today! Your body will thank you later!
