Kate and the black roses is a indie pop rock band from Chicago IL. Their love of funk, folk, classic rock, and everything in between, melt together for a fun dance party.
A native New Yorker, Katelynn made the move to Chicago 6 years ago(I think 10 makes you a true Chicagoan?). Her previously recorded EPs can be heard under the band name "Kate and the black roses", and she is currently recording a full length album in Chicago.
As a life long performer, Katelynn has been singing and playing piano since the age of 6, and picked up the guitar while studying music education at Hofstra University in New York.
Before moving to Chicago, Katelynn taught music in Seoul, South Korea and was featured on the radio as well as on Jeju Island preforming with the house band.
She is excited to be back in the states and pursuing her dream of creating and preforming music! Katelynn also loves to share her passion of music with others, and has been a music teacher for the past 14 years:)
